ELL FAMILY RHYME & READ

International Families are invited to come on Tuesdays mornings to learn songs and rhymes that will help them with their English speaking and reading.  This program is for parents, extended family and/or caregivers and children 0-5 years.  Rhyming will give your young children an excellent start to school. Snacks are included, so please sign up to register yourself and your children.  

Instructor:  Chandra Blair:  BA, TESOL, Family Literacy certificate

Dates:  January 12 - March 22, 2016

Times:  Tuesdays, 10:00-11:30pm

Location:  Vermilion Public Library, downstairs

No Fee: (subsidized through FCSS & Alberta Government)

LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada)



Are you a Permanent Resident? Do you need English Language Learning? NorQuest College supports students' settlement in Alberta and Canada by offering courses that will help you improve English and develop life and work skills. The Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada Rural Delivery Program (LINC RDP) is a face-to-face, online or home study part-time program designed for immigrants. 

Instructors:  Chandra Blair, BA and TESOL certificate 

Time:  Monday and Thursday Evenings:  6-9pm 

Location:  Vermilion

 Face to face classes start on:

  • January 4, 2016 must register by Dec. 9
  • February 29, 2016 must register by Feb. 12
  • May 2, 2016 must register by April 15
  • June 27, 2016 must register by June 10

Condition:  Permanent Resident, 90% attendance

Fee:  Tuition is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Tense Buster Online Software Program

Tense Buster is an ESL program which focuses on helping students improve their reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary and grammar skills in 5 levels.  Tense Buster covers 33 aspects of the English language through presentations, practice exercises, rules, tests and learner training tips. Each unit includes a video-based pronunciation activity. Finally, each unit includes a vocabulary session and ends by suggesting extension activities. All activities include detailed feedback.
